President's Message

As we start 2023 it is the perfect time to set big goals and clear intentions for ourselves, our businesses, our families, and the organizations we are a part of, including Impact 100 of NWF.

As I think about the year ahead I ask myself, what is next for Impact 100 and the nonprofits we serve in Okaloosa and Walton County? How can we dream big and get 1,000 members allowing us to give two grants in each of the five categories in 2023? How can we keep members engaged and encourage participation in all areas of our organization?

The Grant Committee Needs Volunteers

Would you like to help the Grants Committee this year?  If so, we would like to talk with you.  Some positions are short term while others are longer term.  Some positions require that you’ve already served as a grant review committee member as that experience is vital to understanding the role.  However, some are open to anyone who’d like to get involved.  Drop us a line at grants@impactnwf.org if one of these interests you & we can discuss the ways you can help in 2023:

** Grant Process Co-Chair:  This is a yearlong commitment assisting the Grant Process Chair.  The Grant Process Committee is responsible for supporting the Grant Review Process.  The committee provides guidance, facilitation, implementation and coordination of communications for grant events and activities.  (Must have served on a grant review committee previously.)

**Grant Review Co-Chair:  This is a yearlong commitment assisting the Grant Review Chair.  The Grant Review Committee is responsible for coordinating and assisting all aspects of the Grant Review process.  (Must have served on a grant review committee previously.)

**Focus Area Chairs:  This is a short-term commitment (July – Annual Meeting).  Our Focus Area Chairs lead the evaluation of grant applications and projects in their individual focus area.
(Must have served on a grant review committee previously.) These positions fall under the Grant Review Chair.

**Document Coordinator:  This is an as needed position.  We need help with the creation of fillable PDFs, online forms, flyers, spreadsheets, etc.… Are you skilled in this area?  If so, we can use your help.   This position falls under the Grant Process Chair.

**Training Coordinator:  This is about a 6-month commitment beginning in the March timeframe.  The Training Coordinator will help the Grant Process Chair review all Focus Area Chair and Committee Member training materials and content.  The Training Coordinator will assist the Grants Committee in training of the Focus Area Chairs, assist with the Grant Workshop (held in early March) and the Focus Area Committee Kick Off (late July/early August).    This position falls under the Grant Process Chair as well.  (Must have served on a grant review committee previously.)

**Grant Workshop Volunteers:  This year our Grant Workshop will be held in Niceville on March 3rd from 9am to 12pm.  We can use your help with set up (hopefully the day/evening prior), registration or hospitality.  This is a one-day volunteer event.  We also invite any Impact100 NWF member to attend the Workshop to learn more about our Grant process.

**Focus Area Committee Members:  We will be looking for 12-15 members to join each of our 5 Focus Area Committees to review the grant applications in the respective categories.  Much more information will be shared later this spring about this.  The commitment is from mid to late July-mid September.  If you are interested in this and have never served in this capacity, we’d love to have you attend either the Grant Workshop on March 3rd or one of our Mini-Workshops (January-April) as a great way to get an overview of the process (although attendance is not required).
